MECHANICSBURG — PA State Representative Thomas Kutz today announced his plans to seek re-election to a third term representing residents of the 87th Legislative District in the General Assembly. The 87th District consists of Upper Allen, Silver Spring, Monroe, Lower Allen (part, precinct 2), and South Middleton (part, precincts 1-2, 6-9) Townships, and the Borough of Mount Holly Springs. The district includes parts of five school districts.

“Over the past three years, I’ve worked tirelessly on behalf of Cumberland County residents to strengthen our local economy, address affordability challenges, and protect the quality of life that makes our community such a great place to call home. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished, but there is more work ahead, and I’m eager to continue delivering results for the 87th District,” said Kutz.

Notably, Kutz has secured more than $20 million in funding for community and municipal projects, while successfully fighting to change the state’s school funding adequacy formula to deliver millions in additional education funding to local districts. He has also fought to ensure critical investments in roads, utilities, parks, and public safety projects were funded at the state level.

“Cumberland County is home to vibrant communities, strong schools, and hardworking families who represent the very best of Pennsylvania. I remain committed to fostering an environment where families want to put down roots and businesses have the confidence to grow and invest, ensuring our community continues to thrive,” said Kutz.

In Harrisburg, Kutz is a strong advocate for families and businesses across Cumberland County, sponsoring and co-sponsoring a wide range of legislation focused on lowering costs, strengthening public safety, and expanding economic opportunity. His work has focused on the real, everyday concerns of constituents, with two district offices that remain consistently busy responding to constituent requests and assisting residents across the district.

During his time in office, Kutz has sponsored legislation to exempt everyday household essentials  from the state sales tax, helping families keep more of their hard-earned money. He has also advanced proposals  to make it more affordable to buy and sell a home by reducing unnecessary barriers and cutting red tape.

Kutz has championed policies to make Pennsylvania a more attractive place to start and grow a business, including legislation addressing business taxes and improving the treatment of net operating losses so employers can reinvest and expand their operations. In addition, Kutz authored legislation that was signed into law to support law enforcement and first responders while ensuring accountability and transparency in government.

As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, Kutz has consistently supported sound fiscal policy, protected the Commonwealth’s Rainy Day Fund, and advocated for taxpayer dollars to be spent wisely. He has also prioritized accessibility, accountability, and transparency in state government through dozens of community events, while refusing taxpayer-funded perks such as per diems.

“It is an honor to serve the community my family has called home for generations, and I am humbled to announce my intention to seek a third term representing the 87th District,” said Kutz. “With your support, we will continue working together to ensure that Cumberland County remains one of the best places to live, work, and raise a family.”

Thomas Kutz is a lifelong Cumberland County resident and a licensed attorney. He is a graduate of Grove City College and Widener University Commonwealth Law School. First elected in 2022, Kutz is currently serving his second two-year term in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Thomas and his wife, Allie, are active leaders in their community and local church, and reside in Mechanicsburg with their dogs, Camden and Poppy.
