Lower Allen Township Commissioner Thomas Kutz issued the following statement in opposition to PennDOT's plan to toll the South Bridge:
"Bridges are an essential part of infrastructure, but improvements paid for by a commuter tax will have a negative impact on the hardworking residents of Lower Allen Township and the West Shore as a whole. PennDOT fails to consider that the influx of traffic across alternate routes on the West Shore. I’m opposed to any plan to tax our residents for use of the South Bridge."
PennDOT previously announced plans to toll the South Bridge and several other bridges across the Commonwealth without first seeking input from the communities the suggested tolls affect.
